Our Thirtieth Anniversary celebration is running smoothly through the second week. It was fun hearing from Robert Newell, the first Interim Pastor of Sugar Land Baptist Church. He shared some good memories of the faith involved in starting and maintaining a new church. Then Mike and Barbara Rozell, two of the founding members continued the memories from those early days. Finally, we heard from Amanda Beshears, who along with her husband John and children Kaitlyn, Jack and Connor, have been members for just a few years. It’s nice to know why people continue to join with us here at Sugar Land Baptist Church. Again, the music and worship was splendid and inspiring. Thank you for a wonderful day.
This week we will welcome Ken and Denise Corr, the first Pastor and wife of the Church. There will be a reception for the Corrs on Saturday between two and four in the afternoon in the Trinity Café. Ken will preach in the morning service this Sunday. Ken and I have been friends since Seminary days in Ft. Worth and it will be good to welcome him and Denise back to Sugar Land. Ken is currently serving as Family Minister at Brentwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.
Order forms for the Thirtieth Anniversary History booklet will be in the worship guide again this week. If you would like a hard copy, please fill out the order form with check or cash ($10) and submit in the offering box or Welcome Center. There will be a copy of the history on the website for anyone who prefers to get it in that form.
For those who have inquired about a trip to the Holy Land, I have contacted a travel agent to plan this trip for next April 2013. If you are interested, please contact me by email. It will be a 10 day trip to Israel and Jordan.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday for a great day of celebration and worship.
~ Pastor Phil
