"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." -Acts 1:8
Members of Sugar Land Baptist Church are actively involved in mission efforts in Ft. Bend and Harris Counties, Arkansas, Mexico, Bulgaria, Argentina, Greece, and Africa. Because of these efforts, many people have heard and seen the Gospel in action. As Acts 1:8 commands, every Christian has a mission from God to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ. You are encouraged to become a part of these partnerships by giving, going, and sharing in God's work. To Sugar Land Baptist Church- On behalf of Loaves and Fishes I would like to thank you for all you have done on behalf of the homeless of the downtown Houston community. Without you and others, we would not be able to do what we accomplish in our community. Me and the men that work for room and board appreciate the extra things that are done as well. Sincerely, Billy, Thanh, Sean, John, George, Johnny, Harris, Robert, Joseph, Skip, Dave, Cal and David.
Montgomery County Fire Relief Assistance
Two groups of SLBC members recently spent time volunteering at the Montgomery County Food Bank delivering bottled water, cleaning, labeling and boxing over 3000 cans of vegetables (that’s A LOT of cans!), and sorting and boxing donated food items for fire victims.
Our original goal of filling our church trailer with 2,000 lbs of bottled water was quickly surpassed!! We ended up renting a truck to deliver what we thought would be about 8,000 lbs. of water. As it turned out, we took over 14,000 lbs of water to our neighbors in need!!!
Thank you to our volunteers (Ken Murphy, Bob Gindler, Amy Hedges, Trish Dolezal, Rita and Dennis Spriggs, Zorina Burns, John Adams, Davey Gibson, Kami Huessner and her sister Kitty, Harvey Brydon, Shirley Watts, Bodie Peak, Laura McGregor, Peggy Nolan, Susan Green, Linda Bramlett, and David Fails) and to everyone that so generously donated water—we are truly blessed to have such a caring congregation!

Mexico Missions Trip 2011
Mexico Mission Team Returns from successful trip! "Mexico Mission teams have made three trips to Mexico this year to help build a new church in a poor area of northern Chihuahua. First Baptist Church out of Muskogee, Oklahoma framed, roofed and walled the church. SLBC teams spent a week in early October doing the electrical, plumbing, windows/doors, insulation, sheet rocking, and float/taping. Lots of rewarding good old, hard work! We praise the Lord for keeping us safe while traveling and working, and for giving us the strength and skills to perform all the necessary tasks."
Bastrop Fire Relief
Members from SLBC and Grace Chinese Church travelled to Bastrop over Thanksgiving weekend to assist with wildfire clean-up. The team of 12 (Nora Kwok, Peggy Man, Eunice Choi, Sandra Wong, Choi Tsoi King, Dan Doremus, Don Mikeska, Kristine, Sam and Spencer Scarber, Matthew Jacobus and Cynthia Watts) cleared the slab of one of 1,600 homes destroyed by the fires. This was intensive work as the home was located up a dirt road that could not be accessed with a trailer. All the metal, tin, steel, etc cleared from the homesite had to be carried down the hill where the trailer was located! Talk about a LABOR of love!
There was also a mobile home located on the property. The steel frame and sheet metal (from the roof) were also disassembled and cleared. This was quite an accomplishment given the weight of the steel beams and the fact that much of the metal from the roof was mangled together and had to be sledge-hammered apart! Many thanks to each of you for participating in this much needed work! What an example you are to others with your giving of time and caring hearts. You truly epitomize what it means to be a Christian.
NEXT TRIP IS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29TH, 2011 Leave: 6am Return: 10pm No Cost Contact for further information
