In the birth of Jesus, God’s love personally enters humanity.  In the death of Jesus, God’s love makes a new way of access to Him.  As my old buddy Preston Washington reminds us in our Thursday morning Men’s Bible study, “ADAM BROKE IT!  JESUS FIXED IT!”

When the angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds in Bethlehem, he did so by saying, “Do not be afraid.  I bring you good news of GREAT JOY that will be for all people.”  (Luke 2:10)  Joy is a gift of God through His Son Jesus Christ.  This joy is a gift to all who are willing to believe and receive Jesus as Savior.  This joy can be a lifestyle in the midst of trouble and anxiety.  REJOICE IN THE LORD ALWAYS!

Our Scripture today tells some that they have been living in fear long enough.  The birth of Jesus announces a time to live in hope.  Hope is not something that comes after all our fears have been banished.  Hope is the confidence in God’s provision to us in Jesus that keeps us alive and going when we are frightened about what the future may hold.  Hope brings meaning in the midst of chaos and purpose in serving Christ without fear.
