Habitat for Humanity Meals for College Students

20 College students (and 5 leaders) from Florida will be spending their Spring Break in Sugar Land working with Habitat for Humanity on 4 homes being built in Teal Run (on Hwy 6 in Fresno-right past Sienna Plantation).  The students will be staying at First United Methodist Church in Sugar Land (on Eldridge Rd-off of Hwy 90).

They need lunch and dinner (including drinks) on Mon, 3/5, dinner on Wed, 3/7, lunch on Thurs, 3/8 and lunch on Sat, 3/10.

Lunches will be taken to the work site, delivered at 11:45 for them to eat at noon.  Dinners will be at United Methodist Church in the evening around 6p (there’s a little more flexibility with the time for dinner).

Get a group (or your ABF) together and let’s show these kids some Texas hospitality!!  Meals (homemade or purchased) can be dropped off, or you can stay and serve.  Some funds are available to help with out-of-pocket expenses if needed.

How exciting these kids are willing to spend their Spring Break helping others (and not at the beach)!

Note:  We’ll be doing a Church-wide work day at the same Habitat homes in April—watch for details on this!!

Bethel Ministries Baptizes 16 Members!

In October, Pastor Joe and Becky Torres of Bethel Ministries brought 16 of their parishioners, along with about 50 friends and family members to SLBC. Bethel, a ministry located in Stafford that we partner with, does not have a baptistery in their church. Members of their congregation had been waiting, some for over a year, for the opportunity to be baptized. Their wait came to an end on October 16th, when Pastor Joe baptized 9 adults and 7 children here in our church! Following the baptisms, a dinner was served in the Great Hall, with fantastic desserts provided by the Homebuilders and Super Seniors ABF’s. Many thanks to both classes for your generosity! And, a special thanks to Les and Trisha Dolezal for helping everyone find their way around and assisting with dinner Becky sent a note, saying “It was like being in heaven with Jesus.  What a private moment with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! Joe and I are still on a high.  We love God.  He is so good.  We praise Him for the works that He is doing and letting us be part of it. Thank you so much for letting us have a wonderful glorious baptism service at Sugar Land Baptist Church”.
